Jennifer Lopez has honoured Johnny Depp with an award for his charitable work.
Presented by the singer at the Noche de Nios ("The Night of Children") gala in LA, Depp received a Courage to Care award to recognise his contributions to the Children Hospital Los Angeles.
As Lopez introduced him, she said: "His commitment to children really sets him apart.
"Johnny's kindness and generosity behind the scenes making children a priority are why he is one of tonight's award recipients.
"His films are aspirational for children all over the world. Johnny Depp is a role model for all of us."
Depp said he was "thankful" for the award and saluted the doctors and nurses at the hospital for "their generosity".
He concluded in his speech: "Lastly to the kids, the courage that I have seen in the eyes of these little ones that you don't see anywhere else is astonishing and inspiring."

LIFE STYLE EXTRA (UK) - Johnny Depp is getting married.
The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor is set to marry his French lover Vanessa Paradis in a small ceremony at their home in the South of France next summer.
A source revealed to Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "Johnny and Vanessa are planning to finally get married next summer at their villa. It will be a private event rather than a showbiz extravaganza."
The couple have been together for eight years and have two children, Lily-Rose, seven, and four-year-old Jack. The family split their time between Los Angeles and France.
This is not the first time Johnny has been involved in wedding plans - he was engaged to actress Winona Ryer and Jennifer Grey and briefly married to musician Lori Anne Allison in 1983.
For many years Johnny was reluctant to marry again, insisting: "If you are together and you love each other and are good to each other, for all intents and purposes you are married."
Vanessa, who had a worldwide hit with 'Joe le Taxi' when she was just 14, recently revealed how special their relationship is.
She said: "Johnny is all I dreamed of. No one could love the way we love. He's a beautiful person so obviously he's a beautiful dad."

8/25/06-Johnny shocked fans at the Teen Choice Awards by making a surprise appearance for the awards recieved for 'POTC 2'. Click here for the story. 8/19/06-More info on the 'Sweeny Todd' movie has been reported. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton will be teaming up again to make the movie and it is being planned for a Christmas 2007 release.
8/15/06-Johnny Depp will have to undergo a singing test before he is cast in the upcoming musical film, 'Sweeny Todd'. Click here for more details. 8/11/06-I hate to be the bringer of bad news but I have only one thing to report today, and you're not going to like it. Johnny Depp has said that he plans to quit acting once he turns 50 because he think he'll look too old by then.
8/2/06-Johnny Depp was recently on 'The Late Show' with David Letterman. He has also bought the rights to a movie about Roscoe 'Fatty' Arbuckle. Also, Johnny and Vanessa have reportedly bought a new home in Bath. And there's a new drawing by TNWpeople that will award the winner with an autographed photo of Johnny from 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'.
7/20/06-Johnny told the media his favorite scene from the new 'Pirates' movie was his moment of weakness with Elizabeth. There's also a story in the news that Johnny Depp fans are swamping a French mayor with calls about whether or not he lives in that area, as there are rumors that he set up a home in the Paris suburbs.

7/13/06-Johnny Depp is supposedly set to star in yet another movie called 'Happy Days', based on a French novel. And on top of being rated the best autograph signer, Johnny has now been named the kindest movie star.
6/12/06-Peter Weir, who was supposed to direct Shantaram, an upcoming Johnny Depp movie, has left due to differing interpretations of the script. The movie is still planning to be made, but who knows how this will affect the film in the future.
1/28/06-There are reports that Johnny Depp will start shooting 'Shantaram' soon in Havelock island. Also, there's an article talking about how 'The Man Who Killed Don Quixote' may start shooting again, and Johnny Depp is lined up in the cast. The movie with Depp in it was originally supposed to be made in 2000 but they had to postpone it due to financial issues.
7/10/06-'Pirates' has officially broken the first weekend record, bringing in $132 million in just three days! Click here for the report. Johnny Depp said that he would consider starring in a movie of '21 Jump Street', the TV show which made him famous. Click here to read the story. There's also a report on how Johnny helped Hunter S. Thompson with his last book tour and disguised himself with the name 'Ray'. And in a recent interview, Orlando Bloom described how scared he was to star alongside Johnny Depp in the 'Pirates' movies. As far as the opening of the new movie goes, it is estimated to bring in $100 million in its first weekend!! That's absolutely amazing and very much deserved for all the hard work the cast & crew put into the making of it.
In other news, Johnny has said that he is planning to have a third child with Vanessa Paradis, but still does not want to get married. He also wants to honor Marlon Brando's advice to him when he said that he should play Hamlet before his acting career is over. And finally, he has been awarded with the Freedom of Paris, an award given to those who demonstrate devotion to Paris.
6/30/06-There's lots of news on Johnny today. Apparently he will be playing a role in an upcoming movie called 'I Am Legend' with Will Smith. Marilyn Manson also wants him to star in a movie he's working on called Phantasmagoria. Meanwhile, Johnny is dreading getting his gold teeth taken out and apparently had a drunken mixup with Orlando Bloom and St. Vincent's prime minister.
