"If you ever see me acting serious, you will have to smack me!"- Johnny Depp
An interview with Geoffrey Rush in which he discusses the third Pirates of the Caribbean film and working with Johnny Depp:
"Someone like Johnny is a great team leader..." he says. "It's great not to have a diva. It's great to have someone who's very laid-back, very playful... he's probably the only person who dares to ad-lib. A lot of what he throws in makes it into the final mix. Jack Sparrow is some crazy part of Johnny's brain.
"And Johnny Depp, we've been together for four-and-a-half years now on these films; he's one of the great character actors in a leading man's body who constantly surprises himself and his audience with his capabilities and imagination."
written by Rudolf John in the Austrian Kurier and I hope, I translated this correct: ...and there is scarcely any other actors face that meets more the conception of romanticism than his. With the melancholic trait around the mouth, the poetic far sighted view, where nevertheless the rogue is flashing through, and the bantering body language.
“This is such a relief. Not that I don’t enjoy all that Pirates stuff, but it’s not about my character – it’s about Johnny’s character. It’s not focusing on emotional turmoil. It’s been great just to get my brain engaged.”
She also talks briefly about the appeal of working with Johnny Depp:
“I love to watch Johnny work, as it’s masterful. It’s like taking an acting master class."
-Keira Knightley
I don't want to be limited by other people's opinions. I don't necessarily want to always play the leading man - I'd like to shave my head and sew my eyeballs shut.

He'll Never Get Bored of Jack
Now Magazine offers a snippet of an interview with Johnny Depp from "Top of the Pops" magazine in which Johnny says he could never get bored of Jack Sparrow.
"I'll never get bored of Captain Jack, he is so much fun," he says. "If they wanted to do Pirates 7, why not? There are new layers to Jack and situations that he can't just talk his way out of, so it would be good to keep exploring the character."
The one drawback he admits is the process of creating Jack's golden smile:
"They're bonded on to my own choppers!" he says. "They make the surface of my teeth kind of rough then use hot glue and laser the false teeth on. The process of taking them off can be quite ugly. Sometimes they just shoot off and other times you have to address the issue more intensely with yanking."
"Top of the Pops" is a BBC Magazine published in the UK.
He's the kindest, most loving man ever. There's nobody like him, because nobody can be that fabulous.
--Christina Ricci
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ leading man is quoted by Monsters and Critics as saying: “When I was a kid, I had a lot of dreams. I wanted to be everything from Evel Knievel to the first white Harlem Globetrotter, and I’m still trying! Then I wanted to play the guitar, and now I’m here, doing this, acting.”-Johnny Depp
"Johnny Depp's pretty unbeatable, isn't he? There's no one better in Hollywood. He's totally gorgeous – a fantastic actor who picks brilliant roles and always goes for the more interesting parts. I can't think of a film he's made that I don't love. He ticks all the boxes, really."

I like Johnny. Of his generation, he's totally different from the rest of the actors. He's made some beautiful choices on the screen that are different and special... I like him very much.
